MiniTec is expanding its presence in Northern Europe: With Optimas slf., the company has secured a competent distribution partner for Iceland – offering exciting prospects.
Many people are familiar with Iceland primarily from nature documentaries or as an extraordinary travel destination. There’s no question about it—with its spectacular volcanoes and geysers, thundering waterfalls, majestic glaciers, and mysterious Northern Lights, the country offers a unique natural experience.
It is, however, not widely known that this island nation near the Arctic Circle also offers interesting business opportunities. But here, too, there are exciting companies and organizations that are benefiting from the modular profile system and its possibilities. That is why MiniTec was recently able to secure Optimas slf. as an experienced sales partner, which will now supply customers in the “Land of Fire and Ice” with the profile system and corresponding solutions. The company is headquartered in Reykjanesbær, a municipality on the Reykjanesskagi Peninsula in southwestern Iceland.
Benjamin Renno, Sales Manager at MiniTec, commented: “To date, there has been no specialized provider in Iceland offering aluminum profiles, profile components, or related technical services. This presents MiniTec with a unique opportunity to establish a strong market position and become the preferred solution for modular aluminum profile applications in Iceland. With Optimas and its MiniTec-experienced and enthusiastic owners, Aðalsteinn Ingi Erlendsson and Ása Kristín Óskarsdóttir, we have the best possible foundation for this, as Aðalsteinn worked extensively with the MiniTec profile system for several years in his previous position and Ása Kristín, has experience in import, business operations and finance.”

Aðalsteinn Ingi Erlendsson explains: “Our goal is to establish MiniTec as the leading aluminum profile system in Iceland. We want to build a strong market presence and make MiniTec the first choice for companies seeking efficient, modular, and high-quality solutions for industrial applications, workstations, safety systems, machine frames, and custom-designed structures.”
Erlendsson is convinced that the demand is there: “The system is extremely versatile and easy to work with. It also reduces assembly time because, unlike conventional steel structures, MiniTec solutions can be assembled quickly and efficiently without welding, resulting in lower installation costs and greater flexibility. In recent months, everyone we’ve introduced the system to has shown great interest and enthusiasm for the possibilities it offers. We’re convinced that this combination of simplicity, efficiency, and adaptability will appeal to a wide range of industries in Iceland.”

Up close and personal with the first customers: A delegation from Icelandic fire departments at MiniTec’s booth at Interschutz – Aðalsteinn Ingi Erlendsson is on the right.
According to Erlendsson, this involves a wide variety of customer groups: “There is great potential in the manufacturing industry as well as in the food, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical sectors. In addition, we see excellent opportunities, particularly with emergency medical services and fire departments. We already participated in a trade show for fire chiefs in April and visited the Interschutz trade show in Hanover in June, where Icelandic fire and rescue services were represented. We will also be exhibiting at Rescue26 in October, the largest conference and trade show for emergency services in Iceland.”
Erlendsson is correspondingly optimistic about the future: “We are convinced that the flexibility, quality, and virtually unlimited applications of the MiniTec system will be met with an extremely positive response in Iceland. Our message to customers is simple: Before you conclude that a challenge cannot be solved, see what can be achieved with MiniTec!”
