Press releases 09/2013
During this year’s MOTEK exhibition from 07 till 10 October 2013 (Hall 1, booth 1308) MiniTec presents many new and improved products of its modular profile system as well as solutions to improve flow of material, workplace design and assembly. Highlights are the new profile system series 30, the electronically mounting support EMU, new components for linear and conveyors as well as a new version of the 3D construction software iCAD Assembler, for planning and construction works in process engineering and assembling.
Schönenberg-Kübelberg, September 2013 – Today, aluminium profile systems are popular for use in modern mechanical and plant engineering. In 1986 MiniTec developed a modular system for profiles; using a wide variety of parts, it offers virtually unlimited construction possibilities in the use of material, workplace design and applications – without time-consuming planning or construction. The well established and proven modular system with a grid of 45 (millimetre) is supplemented by the new and economical profile series 30 (millimetre), which has the same M8 groove size as the standard series 45. This means expensive storage or provision of special tools can be avoided. The lightweight series 30 is especially practical for use in light constructions like covers, table constructions, protective guards and kanban-solutions. The MiniTec power lock-fastener used with the standard profile series is also compatible with the series 30. The new line doesn’t need much processing and all connections are ESD-suitable (ESD=electrostatic discharge). Round profiles can be adapted with special adapters to square cross-sections e. g. for handles, overhead suspension or kanban-shelves.
As it’s the finer details that make up a good system, new additional parts in the profile series 45 included are also included. MiniTec pays close attention to the smaller details, one example being; missing cover caps on a machine can give an unprofessional look, however MiniTec now supplies the first captive cover caps as a solution to this.
MiniTec’s Team of “ergonomic advisors” offer assistance to companies in workplace design that gives health and safety benefits by and providing more comfort for their employees. Simultaneously MiniTec delivers sophisticated solutions for the different assignment of tasks, containing height adjustable and inclinable work stations, adjustable lighting, providing tools and materials and electrical power. During this year’s MOTEK exhibition, the new designed scan-to-light-system is being presented in connection with the electronically mounting support EMU. The material provided was re-designed according to kanban-principle. The new KanTainer for small parts was developed to make Kanban more safe and efficient. The boxes with a transparent cover are designed for longitudinal and lateral transport on roller conveyors. They can be converted to grab bins thanks to the pull-out-grip cavity. Decanting of parts from the storage box into the grab bin is not necessary. The electronically mounting support EMU shows the next working step on the screen whilst scan-to-light indicates the respective grab bin and the necessary amount by optical signals.
MiniTec also highlights innovations in its linear technology programme with additional modules. The new developed adapters can be easily and economically combined to a multiple-axes-system. Tasks like material handling, packaging, pick-and-place, material testing, marking or laser machining can be solved with flexibility and precision. In conjunction with the new linear axis LMS, based on rail guides with spindle drives and shaft joints, high-precision multiple-axes-systems can be assembled.
The segmented chain conveyor GKF has already demonstrated its reliability in many different applications. Thanks to the multi-purpose requirements, the series has been extended by many practically tested components for drive and control units as well as for product identification. The system components are usually supplied as ready-to-use units. Most important when developing components are power-efficiency, huge flexibility and cost-effectiveness which are all now available, thanks to the well-established modular construction. The series GKF is also based on the approved modular profile system like all MiniTec constructions. The new distance profile was designed according to the same principles. Therefore the modular profile system can be absolutely maintained. All components are suitable for extensions, fittings or eventually necessary safety systems. The new conveyor system can optimally be connected with proven MiniTec solutions including material handling, image processing, labeling, workplace design, etc. The chain of plastics or stainless steel is suitable for straight and curved, horizontal and vertical movements. The flexible routing allows space-saving constructions. Vertical curve guides or lifting devices facilitate the use in several levels. The system can be delivered in single components, as assembly kits or as ready-to-use mounted units.
Improved planning and construction
Another highlight on visiting our exhibition booth is the enhancement of our construction software iCAD Assembler 2.3. With partially automated construction modules the program calculates designs, modifies or lists parts and checks the plausibility of custom entries. It does not only make work easier but also minimizes possible sources of error. Another huge advantage of the iCAD Assembler also included is its efficiency in time saving and error reduction whilst providing exact drawings. The completely self-sufficient CAD tool includes more than 80 interfaces to all common CAD systems.

MiniTec is proud to announce its support for the Chinese market with their newly founded subsidiary in Taicang. The new MiniTec subsidiary offers fast delivery times and excellent service for factory automation solutions into one of the most dynamic economic regions within China. The investment follows the MiniTec worldwide expansion strategy of bringing the successful modular profile system much closer to existing customers and increasing the support for the local market.
Schönenberg-Kübelberg, June 2013 – In the east of China, about 30 km away from Shanghai – MiniTec has founded its new subsidiary MiniTec Systems Technology (Taicang) Co. Ltd., in Taicang. Taicang with its 500,000 inhabitants is one of the most prosperous regions in China. It serves as a centre of German-Chinese collaboration with over 250 German companies already located there, including a large number of existing customers who are successfully using the MiniTec modular profile system solutions. The modular profile system is used to increase industrial effectiveness including safety guards, workstations for assembly, conveyors for efficient flow of material and complete automation solutions. MiniTec has earned its reputation as a proven full-service-manufacturer supplying innovative solutions (Company slogan: “The Art of Simplicity") and excellent customer service.
“Proximity to customers is not seen as an obligation – but also as enrichment. "A good service can only be guaranteed with on-site locations”, emphasises Mr Bernhard L. Bauer, founder and CEO of MiniTec. He added: “For MiniTec, full service means extensive assistance, from project planning with our own software, right up to the installation at customer’s premises, including training and after-sales-service”.
Profiles for Far East
The intention of the subsidiary is to provide the same sophisticated and established factory automation solutions and services direct to China as in all the other MiniTec plants worldwide.
“If we are going to assemble a unit in Germany and send it to China, it takes around 45 days by sea. Furthermore, we need another 14 days until the unit can been loaded at the dockside. Now we are purchasing all parts locally and have a huge stock”, says CEO Mr Bauer.
The General Manager is Mr. Dietmar Schenk who has been working in China for 15 years; he is also GM of MDT (Taicang). This company, under German management, is established and successful in factory automation for many years. MiniTec and MDT have already completed many great projects with well-known companies in China. The subsidiary starts with a small staff which should extend rapidly – because MiniTec anticipates fast increase in the EAST. Other Asian countries like Malaysia or Vietnam as well as the Mesoamerican Mexico are in MiniTec's focus.
